KallahMagazine has an article about men who ogle women. The author claims that behind the ogle, men are thinking ‘“I am exercising the male privilege of sizing you up on my terms.” Generally, when women look at men, they do not subject them to the same type of gaze even if they are noting whether what they’re looking at would be considered attractive or not… Even in secular culture, women do not like being the object of the gaze…’
To say that “women do not like being the object of the gaze,..” is ludicrous. Why have fashion? Why dress in attractive clothing? Yes, self-esteem is important but many people rate their self worth by how others view them. They need attention and they want to be noticed. They want approval. Society has indoctrinated them to be this way.
I have to tell you that many female friends of mine do look at men and size them up on their looks and potential as a mate. They just do it more tactfully (usually). Let’s face it we are all human and are preprogrammed to assess and RESPOND to factors that are attractive to us. Both men and women act in ways that would attract a suitable mate.
A female coworker today just confirmed for me that all her friends do undress handsome men as they pass by. A short time later, two well-built plumbers came in. She asked me if I had noticed her ogling them. I was right there and I hadn’t noticed. I think the main point is that both men and women fantasize, stare, and undress the opposite sex just that men are crude and public in their manner while women are much more subtle and private in their enjoyment. So GO OGLE but do it discreetly.
