Although the main bridge is always exposed and seems to be in charge, it is that hidden battle bridge that is the real force while the main bridge expendable. In fact, it's entirely possible to function with the main bridge totally removed from the body. The battle-bridge is the core, the most sensitive area of the ship, the place you need to be when it comes down to it in an emergency. And in all relations, let's face it, you're on red alert.
